Research activities and projects

My research activities focus on embodied artificial intelligence through humanoid artificial entities such as virtual characters or robots. I’m carrying out research aiming at integrating social and emotional intelligence in social robots and virtual agents. The application framework of my research activities is the social skills training through interaction with socially virtual agent, as for instance the bad news training for doctors or the public speaking training.
Currently, I’m particularly interested in how embodied artificial intelligence could be used to combat societal inequalities, reduce discrimination and improve inclusion. I’m leading several research projects to this end, for instance on computational models to detect and reduce bias in AI but also on the development of virtual female role model to reduce stereotypes or the implementation of a virtual theater to train the witness of discrimination situations to react.
Beyond the scope of my research, I’m deeply involved in actions to promote women in Sciences through local and national communication campaigns, actions in secondary schools, in research laboratories and universities.
